A Distinct Identity

The Way of Life Apostolic Ministries, Inc. knows that our strength lies not only in our efforts or desires, but most importantly through the Word of God.  W.O.L.A.M.I. believes that as we follow the four guiding principles of the Apostolic Faith, that the world would be drawn to Christ.  The four principles are:

  • Continuing steadfastly in the Apostle's Doctrine

  • Fellowship

  • Breaking of Bread

  • Prayer

Based on these guidelines is why we ultimately decided to launch The Way of Life Apostolic Ministries, Inc.

About
Pastor Cecil A. Gilbert

Pastor Cecil A. Gilbert was born in Brooklyn, NY the first son of the union of Bishop Napoleon B. Gilbert (deceased) and Evangelist Gracie Gilbert. He was raised in the city of Hartford, Connecticut with his brothers and sisters. Brother Gilbert comes from a great lineage of preachers and biblical scholars. Both sides of his grandparents, parents, and relatives have dedicated and committed their lives to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

On January 26, 1986, Brother Gilbert was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins at the New Born Church of God under the late Bishop William Geddis in Newington, CT. On July 7, 1987, Brother Gilbert received the Gift of the Holy Ghost as recorded in the Book of the Acts of the Apostles at the Progressive Church of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in Hopkins, South Carolina under the ministry of Bishop David S. Johnson.  It was at Progressive Church that Brother Gilbert received his foundation in the Apostolic Faith. After a time, Brother Gilbert returned to Hartford, CT and was mentored by Deacon Walter Satchell of the New Born Church of God in Newington, Connecticut.

In 1994, Brother Gilbert moved to Massachusetts and became a member of the Bethlehem Temple Pentecostal Church in Lynn, Massachusetts under Bishop Anthony P. Bennett.  In 1996, Brother Gilbert was appointed and ordained into the Office of Deacon. In 2003, Deacon Gilbert was elevated to Head Deacon of the Greater Bethlehem Temple Pentecostal Church (G.B.T.P.C.). In 2006, Deacon Gilbert accepted the call into ministry and was elevated as a Minister and appointed as an Associate Minister of G.B.T.P.C. In 2009, Minister Gilbert was appointed as an Elder and Co-Pastor in the G.B.T.P.C. Ministries.  In May of 2010 he was ordained Elder and Co-Pastor of Greater Bethlehem Temple Pentecostal Church No. 2.

January 31, 2021 Pastor Cecil Gilbert and Evangelist Etta Gilbert launched The Way of Life Apostolic Ministries, Inc.  Their objective is clear; to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations, ethnicities, small and great, for they understand that every soul is precious in eyes of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pastor Gilbert found a “good thing” when he met his wife Sister Etta Gilbert at a prayer meeting. They were married on June 7, 1997.  From their union the Lord has blessed them with two wonderful children.  He also has a daughter in Georgia and a grandson.

The Lord has ordered his steps thus far, for the Bible tells us that the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord.

About
Evangelist Etta Gilbert

Evangelist Etta Gilbert was born and raised in the beautiful Caribbean Island of Jamaica, West Indies.  As a child, her parents always sent her to Sunday School even if they did not attend. It was there the stories of the Bible came to life, and she developed a passion for Jesus Christ of Nazareth and His Words.

At the age of 12, she gave her heart to Jesus Christ but was not baptized in the Name of Jesus until after she migrated to Canada.  After she received the Gift of the Holy Spirit, she continued to grow spiritually and temporally under the tutelage of Bishop Orrain Simpson, former Pastor of Bethel United Church (BUC) of Jesus Christ Apostolic, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

While at BUC Edmonton, she served in various capacities in the Young People’s Department as Treasurer, Secretary, Group Leader, Assistant President, President, and Coordinator.  She also served in the Sunday School Department as Assistant Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Teacher for the Primary Class.

After marriage to Pastor Cecil Gilbert, she moved to Massachusetts and served in various capacities at the Greater Bethlehem Temple Pentecostal Church (G.B.T.P.C.) where the Pastor is Bishop Anthony P. Bennett.  These included, but are not limited to Choir member, Youth President, Youth Advisor, Missionary Secretary, Missionary Vice President.  At the G.B.T.P.C. II where the Pastors were Pastor Augustus Woods and Pastor Cecil A. Gilbert, she served as Usher, Church Secretary, Women’s Department Secretary and President.

She was instrumental in initiating the G.B.T.P.C. Senior Adult Ministry in conjunction with Greater Lynn Senior Service (GLSS) Community Café.  She also founded and coordinated the Wives In Prayer for Husband and Children Ministry at G.B.T.P.C. II.  During this time, she also worked full-time, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry with Aenon Bible College and the Northeast Institute of Ministry.

She is a Prayer Intercessor who loves to praise, worship, and exalt the Name of the LORD Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  She believes in advancing the Kingdom of God, bringing edification and comfort to believers, and delivering souls from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.

Evangelist Gilbert currently hosts the Women In Prayer Line (WIPL), an international intercessory prayer line established for the preservation, protection, healing and deliverance of Godly marriages and families.  She strongly supports her husband and children to fulfill the mandate God has commissioned for all their lives as individuals and as a family.
